When your car breaks down or a medical bill is due, waiting a week for a loan isn’t an option. Several online lenders can now send money the same business day you sign, and many more can fund by the next morning.
We compared seven lenders with fast funding, using the cutoff times, rates and terms each published as of October 8, 2026.
What «same-day» really means
A same-day loan doesn’t mean money in minutes after you click apply. In practice, it means:
- The lender sends the funds the same business day you’re approved and sign your loan agreement.
- You must beat a cutoff time, usually between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Eastern time. Weekends and bank holidays don’t count.
- Your bank decides when the money shows up. Most lenders note that availability depends on your bank’s processing times.
- Verification can push you to the next day. If the lender needs extra documents to confirm your identity or income, the clock starts once they’re cleared.
If your need is urgent, apply early on a weekday morning and have your documents ready.

Lenders that can fund the same day
1. SoFi — best overall same-day loan
SoFi says most borrowers get their money the same day if the loan is approved and signed by 5:30 p.m. ET on a business day. That’s the latest cutoff among the online lenders we reviewed. You can check your rate with a soft credit pull, and there are no mandatory fees. Same-day funding isn’t guaranteed, and loans made through SoFi’s partner banks are excluded.
- Pros: late cutoff, soft-pull rate check, up to three 0.25% rate discounts, co-borrowers allowed
- Cons: $5,000 minimum; usually needs good credit; APR can reach 35.49%
2. Rocket Loans — best for same day with a mid-size loan
Rocket Loans offers same-day funding when you complete the process and sign your promissory note by 4:00 p.m. ET on a business day. Loans start at $2,000, lower than SoFi or LightStream, and its maximum APR is 29.99%.
- Pros: $2,000 minimum, APR capped below 30%, clear same-day cutoff
- Cons: origination fee up to 9.99%; only 36- or 60-month terms; no joint applications; good to excellent credit recommended
3. LightStream — best for excellent credit
LightStream can fund the same day if you e-sign, give your banking details and finish verification by 2:30 p.m. ET on a banking business day. It charges no fees at all. The catch: it only approves good-to-excellent credit profiles, and applying means a hard credit inquiry because it has no prequalification.
- Pros: no fees, low reported maximum APR, Rate Beat program
- Cons: earliest cutoff here; hard pull to apply; $5,000 minimum
4. OneMain Financial — best for fair credit and the fastest payout
OneMain says you can have money in hand as fast as one hour after your loan closes, if you choose funding to an eligible bank-issued debit card. Funds by check or bank transfer can take one to two business days. It has more than 1,300 branches and no required minimum credit score, according to NerdWallet.
- Pros: fastest possible payout, accepts lower scores, secured and joint loans, in-person help
- Cons: highest starting APR here (11.99%); origination fees; not available in every state. OneMain faces a 2026 lawsuit from 13 state attorneys general over add-on products, which it denies, so decline any optional add-ons you don’t need.
Lenders that fund the next business day
If you can wait until tomorrow, these lenders widen your options, especially with fair or limited credit.
5. Upstart — best for a thin credit history
Upstart sends funds the next business day if you accept your loan by 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. It says 99% of personal loan funds are sent one business day after signing. Its model weighs your education and employment along with your credit.
- Pros: next-day funding for most borrowers, considers more than your score, up to $75,000
- Cons: origination fee up to 12%; only 3- or 5-year terms
6. Happen Bank (formerly LendingClub) — best for debt consolidation
Happen Bank says it can send your money in as little as 24 hours once you’re approved. It lends up to $75,000, accepts joint applications and offers terms up to seven years.
- Pros: low starting APR, fee can be 0%, joint applications
- Cons: origination fee up to 8%; funding time not guaranteed
7. Best Egg — best for a low starting fee
About half of Best Egg customers get their funds the next day, the lender says; the rest typically within one to three business days after verification. Its origination fee starts at 0.99%.
- Pros: low starting fee, secured option available
- Cons: fee is at least 4.99% on terms of four years or more; not available in Iowa, Nebraska, Vermont, West Virginia or Washington, D.C.
How to get your money as fast as possible
- Apply early on a business day. Morning applications give you the most time to clear verification before cutoffs that can be as early as 2:30 p.m. ET.
- Prequalify first. Most lenders here, except LightStream, let you see your rate with a soft credit check. Pick the offer you’ll accept before you formally apply.
- Have your documents ready. Typical requests include a government-issued ID, recent pay stubs or tax returns, and your bank account and routing numbers.
- Use an account in your own name. Lenders such as LightStream won’t send funds to a business or third-party account.
- Answer document requests right away. Check your email and the lender’s dashboard often; a delay of a few hours can push funding to the next day.
- Sign the loan agreement as soon as you’re approved. At most lenders, the same-day clock depends on when you sign.
- Ask about debit card funding. Some lenders, like OneMain, can pay out to an eligible debit card much faster than a bank transfer.
What slows funding down
- Applying on a Friday afternoon, a weekend or a bank holiday
- Information on your application that doesn’t match your documents
- Asking the lender to pay creditors directly, which can take several extra business days
- Your bank’s own processing time for incoming transfers
- A larger loan amount, which may need more verification
Don’t let speed cost you
A fast loan is still a loan you’ll repay for years. A few hours of comparison can save hundreds of dollars.
- Compare APRs, not just funding speed. The APR includes origination fees, which can be as high as 12% at some lenders.
- Borrow only what you need. A smaller loan is cheaper and may be approved faster.
- Check the total repayment. Your loan agreement must show the total you’ll pay over the life of the loan.
Fast alternatives to a personal loan
- Credit union loans: if you’re already a member, some credit unions can fund a small loan within a day. Federal credit unions also offer payday alternative loans (PALs) with capped costs.
- Paycheck advance from your employer: some employers or payroll apps let you access wages you’ve already earned, often for a small fee or none.
- A payment plan: hospitals, utilities and repair shops often agree to spread a bill over several months at no interest. Ask before you borrow.
- A credit card you already have: a card’s interest rate is often lower than a payday loan’s, but a cash advance usually carries an upfront fee and a higher APR. Compare the cost first.
- Help from family or friends: put any agreement in writing so everyone is clear on the repayment.
Fast loans to avoid
Some lenders advertise «instant approval» or «no credit check» loans. These are usually payday loans, title loans or other short-term loans that cost far more than a personal loan.
- Payday loans commonly charge $15 for every $100 borrowed. On a two-week loan, that equals an APR of almost 400%, according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
- Car title loans use your vehicle as collateral. Miss a payment and you could lose your car.
- Upfront fees are a scam warning. Legitimate lenders take fees out of the loan proceeds; they never ask you to pay before you get the money.
- No lender can guarantee approval without checking your credit and income. Be wary of anyone who promises it.
How we chose these lenders
We included lenders that publicly commit to same-day or next-business-day funding on their own websites. We ranked them on five factors:
- Speed (35%): same-day vs next-day funding and how late the signing cutoff is
- Cost (25%): APR range and fees
- Access (20%): credit requirements, minimum loan amount and prequalification with a soft pull
- Flexibility (10%): loan amounts, terms and joint or secured options
- Transparency (10%): whether cutoffs, rates and fees are clearly published
Funding times, cutoffs, rates and amounts come from each lender’s official website, checked on October 8, 2026. Where a lender doesn’t publish a figure, we cite the independent source that reports it. We didn’t apply for these loans ourselves. Funding speeds are the lenders’ own claims and aren’t guaranteed. We review this list at least once every quarter.
Frequently asked questions
Can I really get a personal loan the same day?
Yes, at some lenders. SoFi, Rocket Loans and LightStream can send funds the same business day if you’re approved and sign by their cutoff times, and OneMain can pay out to an eligible debit card as fast as one hour after closing. When the money is available still depends on your bank.
Which lender has the latest same-day cutoff?
Among the online lenders we reviewed, SoFi has the latest: 5:30 p.m. ET on business days. Rocket Loans’ cutoff is 4:00 p.m. ET and LightStream’s is 2:30 p.m. ET.
Can I get a same-day loan with bad credit?
It’s harder. Most same-day online lenders look for good credit. OneMain has no required minimum score and can fund very quickly, and Upstart and Best Egg may fund by the next business day. Avoid payday and title loans, which can cost far more.
Do same-day loans hurt your credit?
Checking your rate with a soft pull doesn’t affect your score. A formal application usually means a hard inquiry, which can lower your score slightly for a short time. LightStream uses a hard inquiry from the start.
Can I get a loan on a weekend?
You can usually apply on a weekend, but funds are typically sent on the next business day. Same-day funding applies only to business days.
What do I need to get a loan fast?
Have a government-issued ID, proof of income such as pay stubs or tax returns, and your bank account details ready. Respond to any document requests quickly.
